Eating Healthy with Hypertension There is a danger that many people are dealing with and most of them don't even have an idea that they are dealing with it. As a matter of fact, it is thought that 30% or more individuals that are living in the United States have a problem with hypertension and the vast majority of them don't even know it. The reason why this is the case is because high blood pressure does not give any outward signs that it is present until, unfortunately, it gives a sign that it is often far too severe. Some of major problems that are caused by hypertension include such things as heart disease, stroke and kidney problems. That is why it is important for you to make sure that you reduce your chances of having hypertension and do so naturally as soon as possible. If you are already aware that you have this problem, you are among the minority and you should take the steps that are necessary in order to do something about it. One of the things that you can do is to eat healthy and drop a little bit of weight. Believe it or not, losing just a few pounds is often enough to drop your blood pressure significantly and even though you may have to work on a little bit more with exercise and additional weight loss, it may be able to bring you out of the danger zone within just a short period of time. The easiest way for you to do this, however, is not to change your diet erratically as this rarely works for a long period of time. The easiest thing for you to do is to add healthy things into your diet. If you are eating a standard American diet, you need to make sure that you are adding additional raw fruits and vegetables to it every day. Perhaps you can have a salad before you eat every meal while you may be able to carry around a piece of fruit as a snack in the middle of the morning or midafternoon. Provided you work on this regularly and continue to have these healthy foods in your diet, you will naturally drop weight and you will see your blood pressure numbers come down with it. It may take a little bit of effort on your part in order to achieve this but any effort you put into it will be well worth it once you see your blood pressure numbers get closer to normal.
